Dementia Specific Carers Services

 

Alzheimer’s Society offer Peer Support Groups for those caring for someone with dementia.  The groups offer support and advice to carers and provide the opportunity for carers to meet new friends and share experiences with others who understand what they are going through.

You can find your local peer support group on the Alzheimer’s Society website. There is a peer support group in Burnley, which you can contact on 01282 421 233 or email: eastlancashire@alzheimers.org.uk

British Legion Admiral Nurses

The focus of the service is to achieve a better quality of life for those with dementia, their carers and families by ensuring they get the practical support and advice they need. The Legion currently employ three Admiral nurses in the Lancashire area including a lead nurse and have successfully recruited a lead nurse for the West Midlands are are recruiting two additional nurses for that area.
