Blackburn with Darwen Carers Services
1 in 6 people provide care or support for a family member, child or friend. This may be because they are elderly, have a disability, have a mental or physical health problem or have a drugs or alcohol addiction.
We understand how stressful and frustrating caring for someone can be and we are here to help. Juggling your responsibilities with competing demands around family, work, finances, home life, own health issues and trying to have time for yourself can be extremely difficult as well as exhausting.
Included in the support that we offer is support for Carers looking after a family member with dementia. We also facilitate a dementia café once a month and assist with the monthly dementia support group run by the Alzheimer’s Society.
Many services are there to support the person you care for: health, social services etc, however our service is for YOU—the carer.
Please note that it is okay to be registered as a carer and not use our services at this time. However, by registering with us you we will meet with you to discuss how we can support you and your family. You will receive up to date information on many aspects of caring and the systems and processes in place to support the person you care for across Blackburn with Darwen. Having information, knowledge and support also provides carers with more control over matters that affect them and the person they care for. Too many carers find our services when things have reached a crisis point so please seek support early.
