Memory Boxes

Memories can make you laugh and smile, reminiscing about the “old” days.  Why not borrow a box full of magical objects and connect with times gone by.

Lancashire County Council’s Memory Box scheme has boxes available based on a theme and containing objects designed to unlock wonderful memories from the past.

The themes include –

  • Childhood
  • Holidays
  • Celebrations
  • Home & Household
  • Working Life/Textiles
  • Sport/Services
  • Entertainment & Going Out

WHY would I borrow a memory box?

  • to help trigger the memories of someone you are caring for
  • to encourage conversations on an individual or group basis
  • to stimulate senses such as smell, hearing, touch

Anyone can borrow a memory box to enjoy good times with a friend, relative or someone you care for professionally.

Memory box loans are FREE of charge to Lancashire Library members and they are for a period of up to four weeks.  Our memory boxes may be collected and returned to any Lancashire library by prior arrangement.
